Thanks to all who are still checking this blog! I, Ellen, am typing this entry which I actually started a while ago.
Here are some "highlights" of last week to give you an idea of where we are at:
- Gregg and two of the kids have been down with very bad intestinal diarrhea flu for days.
- Both vehicles broke down and are still having issues (we got stranded twice).
- We have been having lots of trouble with the dogs at night and getting out causing problems with neighbors during the day. (our female is in heat so that's attracting neighbor dogs which causes our dogs to bark all night to scare them away - NOT helpful for sleeping and healing!)
- We have been experiencing many computer and phone problems (this is the third time we have tried to do this blog post in the past week and a half).
- We have been attempting to keep up with preserving all the garden produce & pears, apples, elderberries and everything else that is ready and needs processing RIGHT NOW. (and of course all the dishes and mess that goes along with all that). Just so you don't think I am actually doing the canning, I should explain that I am just supervising and trying to cope with the extra noise, mess etc.:)
It is somewhat difficult to know how much information people want to know. I do not want to complain about symptoms or problems. I do want to give glory and honor to God Almighty. We appreciate your prayers and hope to give you ideas of how you can pray if you want to continue to bless us in that way.
So many of my health difficulties were present years before surgery and although the removal of the over eleven pound mass was a huge help, I am still struggling with a lot of issues. There is so much I want to do but can't. Over the years I have had to learn time and time again how to give everything to God and be content in focusing on him and his will for each day - being thankful for WHATEVER he gives me or allows me to do
or not do that day.
I am having difficulty with diet, digestion, bloating, weight gain, candida... I feel restless and tired and am not sleeping well... fibromyalgia, back pain, incision site, nerve and abdominal pain and jawbone, teeth and ear pain are up. I need prayer for the fruit of the Spirit to increase in me. It is amazing what major surgery does not only to your body but to your mind as well. So... This is different that the other two blogposts that I typed and then lost... I am afraid it is a bit negative :-( It has been a rough two weeks.
As I walk with the KING OF KINGS, I am weak but purposefully praising and thanking him and reminding myself daily of his mercies. I am so glad the surgery is over, the mass was benign, God worked out the timing, surgeon, hospital, and that my family, friends and church stood behind me. God is providing and knows exactly what our needs are. He is worthy of praise, honour, glory, dominion, power... Let us praise him because of who he is, not just when circumstances are nice or we feel good.
