So much has happened since my last post...healthwise and lifewise...
The focus of this post however, is to update you on Josiah's needs and to thank you for your prayers.
It has been two years since surgery to pin both of Josiah's hips after break at the socket/joint. According to the orthopedic specialist and lots of x-rays, the growth plates in the hips are mostly closed now which means much of the danger of a fall causing extreme damage is past. This is a blessing and answer to prayer.
He has, however, continued to struggle with neurological and musculoskeletal problems. His ankle and foot are quite deformed and he has a pronounced limp and pain. We have talked with/worked with MD's, several specialists, ND's, chiropractors and physical therapists and have done a lot of research. There is no allopathic cure for this condition (I will forgo the label here). It is expected that degeneration of nerves and muscles will continue to get progressively worse. Braces worn on his ankles/legs only help a little. Physical therapy also helps some. We are doing everything we can to help our son. We do not believe that this problem is hopeless. Given the proper minerals, nutrients, flora etc., the human body has an amazing capacity to heal - Because of it's Designer!
Please pray for regeneration of muscles and nerves. Please pray for Josiah's ability to walk and do outdoor activities without injury to ankles, feet, legs, hip bones. We are also asking God to help us find outlets for Josiah's energy, frustrations, growing body (now 6 feet tall) within the restrictions. Pray that healing progress will allow him to do more and more, instead of the less and less that this disease usually causes. Pray that we will continue to find more resources to help him heal.
Thank You All.
Ellen
