Surgery is about half over. The right hip is done and they are now putting a pin in Josiah's other hip which also had slipped and is unstable. There are two surgeons working on him. Thank you again for praying. It has been an incredibly long day.

Surgery Scheduled
Long MRI. Don't know what it showed yet. Surgery is scheduled for 4:15 this afternoon. Thanks for all your prayers.
Psalm 57:1
Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in
thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until
these calamities be overpast. Psalm 57:1
Josiah has not had surgery yet. They began traction on his leg last night and are hoping to get that to line up the bone better. He is having MRI this morning at 10:00 They will operate today. We will try to keep this updated as possible. So far, the wedding is still planned as scheduled.
Psalm 107:1-2
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good:for his mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.

P.S. The times of these posts are not accurate. I can't figure out how to get that changed.

Josiah Update
Thanks for your prayers! Josiah is headed to Gillette Children's Hospital in Minneapolis for surgery either tonight or tomorrow morning. There is a lot to explain, but to the best of my understanding and putting it simply, he broke his femur off of the ball socket in his hip at the growth plate. Very difficult surgery to perform...so a pediatric orthopedic specialist will be further assessing the situation and making some decisions quickly.

Please Pray
Please pray for our son, Josiah. He fell and injured his right hip (which was recovering from a previous injury). He was unable to move at all and was in extreme pain. Our doctor believes (after examining him) that the muscle may have burst and the ligaments detached from the hipbone. Anyway...we have an appointment with an orthopedic specialist tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully we will know more then. Surgery is a very real possibility. Josiah is flat on his back in bed and is unable to sit up or move around at all. Eliya's wedding is this Saturday. We would very much appreciate your prayers.

Absence from blog world for a happy reason
Sorry it has been so long since I have written. Pain is still high. Mostly, we have had a change in Eliya's wedding plans due to work schedules and goat business. Anyway...we are in massive wedding planning mode for a January wedding. I will be away from the blog for quite some time as I am needing all my energy to make the wedding happen and fight viruses etc. Exciting but bitter-sweet times here.

PAIN
Pain makes it difficult to:
think
move
be cheerful
concentrate on anything else
give
look beyond today
be patient
care about other things
sleep
smile
be optomistic
be nice
Pain puts you in the here and now. Nothing seems to be able to distract from certain kinds of pain. There are many types/degrees of pain. (Pain medication has it's own problems/side effects/ineffectiveness/ etc.but that is a different subject).
Pain is a very useful thing when alerting us to a problem or an injury. Chronic pain, however, wears a person down. Most of us can usually cope with short times of pain especially when we know there is an end in sight. Dealing with the same type of pain day in and day out for years - well that is different. Sometimes it doesn't help to know that someone is in worse pain than you, or that someone else endured your kind of pain for longer than you have. It still hurts.
Here again we must look to God for relief. He may not take the pain away, but he will never leave nor forsake us - he promised! Jesus also knows all about pain. Think what he endured for us. He will give us the grace necessary to endure.

I do ask that God would take away my pain, and that his will be done. I also know that his ways are higher than mine, and that I do not understand the ways of God as "they are past finding out" Romans 11:33. They are so far above my small understanding of life. He is trustworthy, perfect, powerful, able and loving. Even though I so often fail in my human frailty, I want to worship, surrender and praise him "while I have any being" Psalm 146:2.
